A knifeman stabbed his ex-girlfriend’s new partner to death in a frenzied and jealous attack, a court heard.
Lewes Crown Court, Chichester, heard today that Kaydon Prior, 23, stabbed Harrison Tomkins, 25, ten times with a 16cm hunting knife on August 13 2023.
Prior denies the killing was done in a jealous rage after he burst in on his ex-girlfriend, Alicia Parrin, in bed with Mr Tomkins.
Ms Parrin, 21, and lifeguard Mr Tomkins had been on a work leaving do in Crawley before going back to her flat. Meanwhile, Prior had been on a birthday night out in London for his friend Jason Curtis.
Ms Parrin told the court she was dropping off to sleep after spending her first night with Harrison when Kaydon and Curtis burst in.

Ms Parrin’s flat where she and Mr Tomkins went back to after a work night out in Crawley. Ms Parrin told the court she was dropping off to sleep after spending her first night with Harrison when Kaydon and his friend Jason Curtis burst in
She said Kaydon ripped the duvet off them before pinning Harrison to the bed by his legs and stabbing him.
She denied the two men fought to the death in her bedroom.
The jury heard how Ms Parrin told police Prior grabbed her by the hair and was punching her in the head saying he should stab her too.
Charlotte Newell KC for the defence asked Prior: ‘Do you accept Harrison Tomkins died from injuries you inflicted?’
‘Yes,’ he said.
Ms Newell KC replied: ‘From jealous anger?’
Prior said: ‘No.’
Prior told the court he celebrated their first anniversary together on August 8.
He told the jury he arranged for her to get her hair done and picked up flowers and jewellery for Alicia.
Ms Newell KC asked Ms Parrin if it was true her relationship with him had been violent and if they were still together.
Ms Newell KC asked Ms Parrin if Prior and herself were still together.
The 21-year-old said: ‘In his mind. He wouldn’t let me go. He knew I was trapped.
‘In my eyes we were split up. I said it to him but he didn’t listen.’
Ms Newell KC said: ‘I suggest you were together and you were lying to Harrison because you wanted to start a new relationship.’
Ms Parrin said: ‘I wasn’t looking for a new relationship.’
When told Prior had denied being violent towards Ms Parrin, she insisted he was.
Ms Newell KC asked her: ‘You told police Kaydon went to the side of the window and it looked like he was punching Harrison and was having a fist fight.
‘Was Harrison punching Kaydon?’
Ms Parrin replied: ‘No.’
Ms Newell KC said: ‘You said I don’t think he tried to fight and that he stopped fighting.
‘He tried to get up and then he stopped.
‘He was half sitting up, half laying down.
Ms Parrin said: ‘It’s like he was trying to sit up but he couldn’t.
‘I think he was in shock.’
Ms Newell KC claims that as Prior came into the room Mr Tomkins jumped out of bed
Ms Parrin said: ‘He didn’t get out of bed.
‘I was standing at the edge of the bed and as I turned round and realised what had happened, that’s when Kaydon dragged me towards the door.’
Prior and Curtis deny murdering Harrison Tomkins at the flat in Crawley on August 13 last year.
Kaydon Prior also denies beating Alicia Parrin and carrying an offensive weapon.
The trial at Lewes Crown Court in Chichester continues.
